Studi pengaruh kadar mangan dan temperatur austenisasi terhadap struktur mikro dan sifat mekanik baja mangan
Abstract
High manganese steel or austenitic manganese steel
commonly are used in mining industries such as the
component in an excavator, hammer mill, crusher, and
jaw crusher plates. Those components are the alloy cast
steel with containing manganese (Mn) about 11-18%.
The mechanical properties of austenitic manganese
steel are depending on the amount of manganese and
carbon. The austenitic steel has three dominant
properties, i.e. high hardness; good wear resistance, and
high impact resistance. The objectives of this research
are investigating the effect of the composition of
manganese and the austenitization temperature on the
microstructure and mechanical properties of austenitic
manganese steel. Each variation of manganese
composition was 5.87%. 9.42% and 15.28%. It was
heated at 950, 1000 and 1050oC for 60 minutes and then
quenched with water. The result showed that the highest
hardness was 46 HRC where the composition of
manganese and the austenitization temperature was
5.87%. and 1050oC. The lowest hardness number was
16.3 HRC where the content of manganese and the
temperature was 9.42%. and 1050oC. The results agreed
with the microstructure of the increase in carbides and
the composition of manganese increased too. For the
wear resistance properties, the optimum one was 6.78 x
10-6 mm3/m at the composition of manganese and
temperature of 5.87% and 1050oC.
